40 Years of Football
1986. I was barely 20 months old. My mom says I watched my first World Cup hanging from a swing in the living room. I don't remember the goals, but the photos don't lie: football already had me hooked.
Forty years later, the World Cup is coming back to Mexico. The national team might not be giving us much hope right now, but the passion is 100% there. We’re the best fanbase in the world because we love the beautiful game regardless of the scoreboard. Sure, we’re “Villamelones”—glory hunters, bandwagoners, neutrals who just love the sport. We adopt second teams, chase pure genius, and celebrate mind-blowing plays whether they come from a European heavyweight or a total underdog.
As the ultimate "12th Man" and proud Villamelón of the greatest sport on earth, I designed FC Villamelón.
This typeface is a bicycle kick straight from the boots of Hugo Sánchez. It’s inspired by Mexico’s iconic '86 kit, fused with the sharp, volcanic, and ancestral geometry of Juan O’Gorman’s Anáhuacalli Museum.
Every four years, we wait for that one player who will change the course of history. The game-changer who does the unthinkable. FC Villamelón is all about direct football—the kind that takes risks and pushes the limits. It’s for designers and fans who refuse to play it safe and always attack head-on.
Because football doesn't belong to the teams that park the bus. Football belongs to the bold. To the ones who leave it all on the pitch for the full 90 minutes and never give up on a single ball.

FAQs
-
In football, a villamelón is someone who acts like a total expert but doesn't actually know a 4-4-2 from a switch of play, giving hot takes just to show off. It’s also the kind of fan who hops from team to team, always bandwagoning whoever happens to be winning.
-
Football is a universal language. And technically speaking, when it steps onto the pitch, FC Villamelón brings an extended character set that fully covers Western, Central, and Southeastern European Latin.
-
FC Villamelón is completely versatile—the kind of player that gives you a full 90 minutes both on and off the pitch. So yes, the license covers you to play across both Web and Desktop.
-
FC Villamelón has no limits. It’s the ultimate utility player—just as clinical leading the line as a center-forward as it is holding it down in goal. It can rescue a match in the 90th minute. You can deploy it for everything from massive ad campaigns to clean logo design without ever needing to make a substitution.
